Who am I?
My name is Brandon, and I work for my favorite city on the planet…my hometown.
An 18th century legacy city where the midwest meets the south. A city that was once called the “greatest manufacturing city of its size, in the world.” A city that suffered a familiar story of a loss of quality jobs that led to disinvestment, and while it retained a strong sense of pride, there was an increasingly entrenched feeling of hopelessness.
I have worked on strategy development and execution for the better part of my 15 years working in local government. This included a multi-year intensive engagement with retired executives from Procter & Gamble who worked with us to apply their famed OGSM methodology to our work in city government. Through years of difficult choices and hard-won consensus, we are in the midst of a comeback that has exceeded our expectations from over a decade ago.
The lessons we’ve learned by applying visionary private sector strategy tools and the culture of a scrappy start-up can be found in the groundbreaking framework, WhyWhatHow.
